Warzone Season 3 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting updates in Call of Duty history. After Season 2 focused on bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements, this season brings major new content, including the long-awaited return of Verdansk, classic weapons, and several gameplay enhancements.
Key Launch Details
Start Date: Warzone Season 3 goes live on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET / 5 PM BST.
Pre-Launch: On April 2 at 9 AM PT, Black Ops 6 Season 3 debuts with fresh Multiplayer and Zombies content, the new Battle Pass, and more. During this time, Warzone will be temporarily offline until the new season begins.

New Maps & Game Modes
Verdansk
Standard Battle Royale: Engage in a 150-player match on a revamped Verdansk.
Battle Royale Classic: Experience a more relaxed match with 148 players, including a majority of AI-controlled opponents. This mode is perfect for warming up or easing back into the action.
Plunder Quads & Warzone Bootcamp: Additional modes for those seeking varied gameplay experiences.
Rebirth Island
Resurgence: Dive into fast-paced action with 44 players fighting for survival.
Fresh Arsenal Additions
Season 3 introduces a mix of returning favorites and exciting new weaponry:
New Additions: The Kilo 141 and CR-56 AMAX Assault Rifles, Kali Sticks, and the HDR Sniper Rifle are making their debut.
Returning Iconic Weapon: The beloved Grau 5.56 is back, albeit with a new Firing Mod Conversion Kit for the Swat 5.56. Despite the change, Raven Software game director Pete Acitipis assures fans that “the Grau is back” with the same high accuracy and classic iron sights that made it a fan favorite.

Warzone Season 3 Revamped Verdansk
The iconic Verdansk map has received a series of improvements:
Environment Tweaks: Trees now appear in slightly different positions, and immovable wrecked vehicles are distinguishable from those players can drive.
Water Navigation: For the first time, players can swim. The southern combat zone has been extended into the Kastovian Sea, opening up new routes along the coastline.
Terrain Adjustments: Steep, rocky areas have been smoothed out to facilitate easier mantling and traversal. “Goat trails” are now more noticeable, and adjustments to telephone and electrical poles make parachute landings more forgiving.
Enhanced Building Access: Newly positioned ladders and the ability to barge through double-hinged doors add extra routes to rooftops and interiors.
Ascenders & Traversal: While Ascenders weren’t present at Verdansk’s original launch, test-fits for the new “L” shaped models are already in place for easier zip line-to-rooftop transitions—set to roll out fully in Battle Royale matches and available in Plunder at launch.
Improved Visibility: Adjustments in exterior lighting, draw-distance, and reduced haze enhance clarity. Interior lighting improvements now make spotting enemy Operators easier by reducing glare.
Updated Movement & Gameplay Mechanics
Omni-Movement Adjustments: Season 3 sees refined player movement, scaling back recent speed increases to deliver a pace reminiscent of early Warzone days. Modifications to omni-sprint speed and slide friction aim to balance strafe engagements and maintain that signature sprint-strafe reload feel.
Player Count Increase: Matches now feature 150 players compared to the previous 120, along with the return of the classic in-game announcer.
Aerial Combat: Players diving from the plane can choose between free-falling or deploying their parachute. When free-falling, the ability to shoot a 9mm PM pistol at airborne enemies remains—a nod to classic gameplay from 2020.
Quality-of-Life Enhancements
Season 3 reintroduces several beloved features from earlier iterations of Warzone:
Floating Loot: Loot now appears as it did originally, making pickups faster and more intuitive.
Buy Stations: The vertical menus return, alongside a new “Redeploy All” button for buying back your entire squad in one go.
Equipment & Field Upgrades: The available equipment now reflects the original Warzone lineup, including a retro refresh of Field Upgrades, Killstreaks, and other tactical gear. Thermites, flash bangs, and decoy grenades are among the items making a comeback.
Contract Overhaul
Contracts have returned to their original form:
Bounty: Hunt down a target using your Tac Map for cash rewards and enemy location pings.
Most Wanted: Mark yourself as a high-value target and survive the ensuing chaos to revive fallen squadmates.
Scavenger & Recon: Find and activate special crates or tablets for extra loot, cash, and map reveals.
Supply Run: Race to a designated Buy Station to score discounts and bonuses—remember, you can only select one discounted or free item per run.
Contract Multipliers: Complete multiple contracts to earn additional cash bonuses, with rewards stacking up to the fifth contract.
In-Match Public Events & Classic Features
Expect dynamic events to spice up the match:
Fire Sale: Major discounts at Buy Stations.
Jail Break: Eliminated players immediately redeploy.
Restock: All Supply Crates refresh, significantly boosting loot availability.
Loadout Drop: Free loadouts drop during the second and fifth circle collapses.
Original Gulag: The classic Prison Showers gulag is back, complete with three variants and the familiar one-on-one battle mechanics.
Vehicle Lineup & Circle Collapse Dynamics
Verdansk retains its full set of five vehicles:
Vehicles Available: Helicopter, Cargo Truck, LTV, Polaris RZR PRO R 4, and ATV.
Vehicle Mechanics: Vehicles now come with a health meter—once it reaches zero, the vehicle explodes, much like in the original game.
The closing circle—filled with acrid gas—remains a relentless force, urging players toward ever-shrinking safe zones with Loadout Drops during the second and fifth collapses.
Interactive Map Elements & Operator Updates
New Interactive Features: Vertical, interior, and exterior Ascenders, along with restored landmarks like the original Train Station interior and a moving train (coming mid-season), add layers of strategy.
Operator Roster: Promos hint at the return of Modern Warfare 2019’s Operator Mace. We’re also seeing familiar faces like Domino, Roze, and Hudson—adding to the season’s excitement and potential controversies (especially with Roze’s notorious stealthy attire).
