Treyarch Confirms No Early Access for Black Ops 6, Sparking Backlash Among Call of Duty Fans
For the past two Call of Duty titles, fans who pre-ordered the games were treated to an early release of the campaign mode, giving them a chance to dive into the story a week before the multiplayer launch. This setup allowed players to complete the campaign and then focus on multiplayer modes and the camo grind without feeling torn between the two. However, this tradition is coming to an end with Black Ops 6.
As the October 25 release date approached, many hoped for another early access period, but Treyarch recently confirmed to CharlieIntel
that this year’s game will see a simultaneous release across all modes. “This year, we made the decision to ensure the community gets to dig into any and all modes that they want at the same time, so we are back to one massive global launch moment on October 25th,” Treyarch stated. “As such, there is no Early Access beat this year for Black Ops 6, just the countdown to launch.”
The decision hasn’t been well received by many in the community. Many content creators are asking “WHY?!
Players are concerned that without early access, the campaign may be left in the dust as they prioritize multiplayer and Zombies.
For those worried about falling behind on the multiplayer grind, there’s some good news: Treyarch’s campaigns typically take between six and nine hours to complete, and are often praised as some of the best in the franchise.
Some speculate that this change was influenced by the mixed reception of the Modern Warfare 3 campaign.
As the countdown to October 25 continues, it remains to be seen how the community will adapt to this shift. For now, many are left wondering if they’ll even touch the campaign, or if their focus will remain solely on multiplayer and Zombies.
